"….!!…"

" Why don’t you purr again …

Shiki asks as he comes up behind the silverette, words spoken directly against the other’s ear.

"…No."
Straight out rejects his request, not minding the close presence.

Akira exchanged glances with the other. While it only felt like mere seconds that they were staring at each other, Akira felt like it was years. The cold expression portrayed on the raven never seem to cease in Akira’s mind. A twitch of movement caught his attention when he saw Shiki was reaching for his katana. This resulted the silverette to grip the handle of his dagger, fingers wrapping around it tightly. Adrenaline raced in his veins, preparing for the worst to come.

Until the other broke the silence.

Widening his eyes, immediately the mockery in Shiki’s voice ticked Akira off. Although he remembered clearly what happened to their first encounter, Akira was hoping the memory would fade away. But of course, it lingered with him, like Shiki’s shadow…who refuses to disappeared.
All of this was bringing him back, like a deja vu. One step forward from the other, a step back for Akira. Like a rhythmic pattern, their footsteps corresponded, aligned with each other. Akira felt threatened, the shadow this time was engulfing in. In order to break free of the bound, Akira pulled his blade out, heading towards to the other.

"Silence!"

Shiki didn’t wait for the silverette to reach him. No, the raven would meet him half-way. Not yet unsheathing his katana he was heading towards Akira head first. Nearly reckless as he would that other man. This was different however, because Akira showed conflict in his eyes, his every action. Something that one brunette never did. And much like Akira, Shiki was twice as reckless around Nicole. Focused on Akira, and at the last minute Shiki would connect the scabbard of his blade to the intent blade in the silverette’s hand.

With a loud clash the raven deflected whatever attack Akira had in mind. Compared to Shiki, Akira was too slow. Deflecting the other’s attack didn’t stop Shiki  there, no, the raven continued till he slammed the silverette against the wall of the building. Tipping over some old trash bins along the way, the sound resounding off the narrow alleyway. Using the length of the scabbard Shiki pressed it against Akira’s neck, pinning him in place. Though not pressing he’d hate to restrict the silverette from speech.

" You must be starving for discipline. Did you forget all that I taught you? Tell me, should we repeat that day again?

Reckless. That was the first thing that popped in the silverette’s mind. Every time they spar like this, Akira was too rash. He never once, thought what was going to happen afterwards when his actions spoke the words for him. Punishment. Penalty. Discipline. Those words circled around his mind as his dagger was slapped away from his palms. Sweat beads already formed on his head, rolling down from every inch of his skin. He was careless, unable to decipher to the consequences that bestowed upon him with such hasty actions.

”!!…” Akira could mutter out curse words under his breath, but the scabbard of the blade surprised him. Almost like a taser, it stunned him paralyze to realize the unforgettable yet lightning speed of the other. Akira almost stumble upon the trash bins, but caught his balance as he found himself caged in by the other. Hissing lowly, his glanced at the blade and then at Shiki’s cross pendants that dangled around his neck. “Nngh..” Akira tilted his head up to give more room to his bounded neck. Then he narrowed his eyes at the other.

"…Don’t even think about it." He warned the other, clawing the walls.

Shiki snickers hearing Akira quite clear.

" If I point out that you just purred, will you deny it as well?

Covers his mouth, mouth agape as he was speechless.
"….!!…"

The urge to unmask the hidden silhouette was gobbling the silverette’s curiosity. Like an endless dark path, Akira felt like he was running forever; a path that had no diverging paths for him to exit out of. He continued to pace forward, hand extended to grab whatever was in front of him. Nothing was grasped, he stopped, blinked, and looked forward. Even though he was sure there was someone running ahead of him, why wasn’t he able to reach that far? He withdrew his hand slowly, glancing at his palms as he clenched his fists.

The sudden voice forced Akira to widen his eyes as he felt a shiver trickled down his spine. The hardness of the voice, Akira recognized it. Just as he suspected, it was him whom he had followed. He turned back around, those threatening crimson orbs pierced through his pale blue ones. A sweat bead ran down from his forehead, the ominous aura he felt from the other almost made Akira succumb to his presence.

The image produced by his shadows made the silverette gulp. Why he had chased after him, even Akira couldn’t figure it out himself. He merely stared at the other, one hand was reaching for his blade, in case the other was going to hurt him. A strong connection was felt between the two, their exchange of glances intensified every second.

"…."

Shiki stares in silence, assessing the other from head to toe, but hardly giving the hint that he was. He stood there still like the cold shadows that surrounded them both. His hand still coiled around the katana, thumb at the ready to flick, and expose the blade that lays dormant within the scabbard. It would seem like an excruciating long while before Shiki said something. Breaking the silence.

" Did the pet miss it’s Master?

He asks blandly, no ounce of amusement in his tone. But provoking the silverette none the less. Shiki takes a step forward, the very sound of his boot connecting to the pavement nearly deafening when the silence wrapped around them soon after his question.  Another follows, and another right after. In short time Shiki was a mere foot or so away from Akira. But not once did the raven reach for him. Simply overwhelming him with both shadow, and presence.

The trio that stood out openly in the chaotic rubbish of Toshima continued to speak as the enthusiastic blonde jumped jovially with his gambol attitude he displayed for the emotionless silverette and the nervous brunette. Although most of the times Akira was a loner, he secretly enjoyed Rin’s company. It…made it more interesting…as he would say. But while he was enjoying this kind of moment, he knew that danger lurked everywhere around the ruins. The dog tags that clung around his necks tapped his collar bone. It knick his skin slightly but not too much.

An ominous feeling overrode his stomach as he felt a sudden yet familiar presence. He had a general idea of who it is, perhaps a hungry dog who barked for the dog tags, or perhaps, it was a line abuser. Nonetheless, whatever it is, Akira made an excuse towards to the other two that he had some unfinished business he needed to complete. Keisuke, being the anxious person he was, begged Akira not to go and resisted into following him. Akira made his way away from those two, entering the alleyway as he felt the presence getting stronger.

Could it be…

No, his hopes were getting too high.

But was this a good idea? Akira followed the shadow.

"…."

Shiki didn’t have to look behind him to know someone had followed, and it had been one of the three. The raven didn’t have to give it much thought. Were it Rin, the boy would be on the raven in seconds flat. The brunette didn’t appear as much, more so a lost dog than anything. Chasing after shadows didn’t seem to be his thing, more so running from the shadows appeared to be his style. So that left one person left …

Whichever shadow Akira thought he was chasing after had to be something else, because Shiki was no longer leading the way. The raven was off the side watching as Akira went right by. Just as the raven was behind him, he stepped out from the corner.

" You …

He uttered to the silverette. Clad in black helped blend Shiki into the alleyway, it was his pale complexion, and his red-eyes that made him stand out. Looking almost like a rare creature, much like another that roamed Toshima, rarely seen. One that the raven would chase after, something it seemed his half-brother had inherited from him. Chasing after shadows.

The urge to unmask the hidden silhouette was gobbling the silverette’s curiosity. Like the shadows that consume Toshima, Shiki walks the dim lit street, and its alleyways. As he walked down the fourth alleyway he stops abruptly, turning his head to look over his shoulder. Voices— three distinct ones, one of which the raven knows personally, the other two new to him. Continuing to look down the stretch of the alley he would eventually spot the three forms walking along oblivious to the danger that lurked the darkness.

A brunette, blonde, and silverette. Stirring anything might get the shorter of the three to come at him recklessly. And Shiki didn’t like provoking the blonde, it’s always the same with him. Now wasn’t the time neither. By the looks of it, Rin had company, one of which catches the raven’s eye. Narrowing his gaze as if that would help focus from this distance. It is not like Shiki to follow, and he doesn’t. Regardless Toshima being a vast city, individuals here had a knack for crossing paths more than once. And that was something Shiki would be waiting for.

.. Hmph.. “

Shiki turns to continue in the direction he had been walking.

The trio that stood out openly in the chaotic rubbish of Toshima continued to speak as the enthusiastic blonde jumped jovially with his gambol attitude he displayed for the emotionless silverette and the nervous brunette.
